Requirements

• Educational Background :
• BA / BS or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or an equivalent field
• Experience :
• 10+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in software architecture roles
• Proven experience leading development teams in a technical capacity
• Technical Skills :
• Strong knowledge of software design patterns, system architecture, and best practices
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Ruby, or Java
• Experience with cloud technologies and architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with trending technologies (e.g., Microservices, API-first architectures, containerization with Docker / Kubernetes)
• Experience with database systems (SQL, NoSQL) in designing and maintaining scalable architectures
• Soft Skills :
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation
• Ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement

Role Overview

We're looking for an experienced Software Architect to lead the technical design and system integration of our autonomous robotics software stack. You'll play a critical role in defining scalable, real-time architectures that bring together perception, control, and navigation to power fully autonomous ground vehicles. This is a unique opportunity to architect foundational systems for frontier autonomy platforms, working cross-functionally with world-class robotics, AI, and hardware teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and define the overall software architecture for autonomous ground vehicle systems.
• Architect modular, scalable, and real-time systems that integrate perception, control, planning, and safety.
• Guide technical design decisions, best practices, and coding standards across engineering teams.
• Lead integration of subsystems to ensure seamless interoperability and system-level reliability.
• Evaluate and implement robotic middleware and frameworks (e.g., ROS2, DDS).
• Work closely with algorithm teams to deploy SLAM, sensor fusion, and ML models onto robotic platforms.
• Prototype and validate architectural concepts via proof-of-concept implementations.
• Drive performance optimization of computationally intensive components for real-time deployment.
• Ensure system documentation, interface specifications, and software architecture records are maintained.
• Mentor engineering team members on architectural principles, system design, and technical leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of software development experience, with 3+ years in an architecture or system design role.
• Deep experience with robotics middleware, especially ROS / ROS2.
• Strong programming proficiency in C++, Python, or similar languages.
• Expertise in real-time systems, distributed computing, and embedded software.
• Familiarity with perception, SLAM, motion planning, and control systems.
• Proven ability to design and deploy high-performance software for autonomous platforms.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Bonus Points

• Experience with GPU / edge computing for robotics systems.
• Familiarity with safety-critical system design and autonomy software compliance standards.
• Previous work on full-stack autonomous vehicle systems.
• Experience with Agile workflows, Git, and tools like Jira or Confluence.
