Job Opportunity:

A Professional with expertise in Mechanical (Static Equipment) Engineering is sought to join a team of experts in delivering projects and creating value for clients.

The ideal candidate will have experience in identifying, evaluating, and resolving engineering issues during the EPC phase, reviewing and approving key deliverables, and ensuring compliance with design requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Champion safety culture behaviors and engagement activities.
  2. Work under the direction of the PMC Engineering Manager.
  3. Identify, evaluate, and resolve Mechanical (Static Equipment) Engineering issues during the EPC phase.
  4. Review and approve key deliverables for Mechanical (Static Equipment), ensuring compliance with design requirements and industry best practices.
  5. Review and approve deliverables such as equipment design, system design, testing of materials, specifications, design calculations, drawings, data, engineering studies, reports, material requisitions, and quantity estimates.
  6. Review and approve key design documents from vendors, equipment manufacturers, or subcontractors, and prepare comments and recommendations.
  7. Attend technical meetings with clients, vendors, and contractors.
  8. Participate in all project technical sessions, including design review meetings, 3D model reviews, constructability reviews, SIL, EIA, HAZOP, and HAZID sessions.
  9. Ensure quality and accuracy of EPC contractor's Mechanical (Static Equipment) engineering design activities, system integration, and design selection.
  10. Supervise and manage review and approval of EPC contractor's work, ensuring compliance with client and project specifications, relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  11. Coordinate participation of other discipline engineers in layout reviews, design reviews, and technical workshops.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced engineer to support an offshore project in compliance with industry standards.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for the design review and engineering of equipment including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping systems in line with project specifications and applicable codes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering and design work for static mechanical equipment as per international standards.
  • Review technical specifications and drawings for mechanical static equipment.
  • Coordinate with procurement, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure timely and compliant equipment delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with project timelines and quality requirements.
  • Provide technical support and clarification during installation, commissioning, and testing phases offshore.
  • Participate in technical meetings with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies during all project phases.
  • Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, and technical reports.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections when required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 9 years of experience in mechanical engineering with at least 3 years in offshore oil & gas projects.
  • Previous experience with similar projects is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of static equipment engineering, including design, materials, welding, and NDT techniques.
  • Proficient in relevant software tools such as PV Elite, Compress, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with international design codes: ASME Sec VIII, API 650/620, TEMA, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:

  • Aramco Approval (preferred or must be eligible for approval).
  • Offshore Safety Certifications (BOSIET/HUET with CA-EBS).

The Key Objectives For This Role Are
  • Ensuring the structural integrity and performance of static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
  • Developing maintenance strategies to improve the reliability and lifespan of static equipment.
  • Ensuring all equipment meets applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Conducting root cause analyses of equipment failures and implementing corrective measures.
  • Providing technical expertise during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Enhancing equipment performance and efficiency through innovative design and operational improvements.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and refine detailed FEA models of static equipment components (e.g., pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, piping, structural supports, columns, reactors, fired heaters etc).
  • Perform various analysis such as protection against plastic collapse, local failure, cyclic loading, ratchetting assessment, buckling analysis and concept of vibration assessment such as modal and harmonic in accordance to the international codes and standards.
  • Expertise in advanced FEA concepts, including non-linear analysis, contact analysis, plasticity, creep, fatigue, and fracture mechanics.
  • Proven experience with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC), particularly Section VIII, Division 1 & 2.
  • Experience with API standards (e.g., API 650, API 579/FFS) is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics, material science, heat transfer, and dynamics.
  • Apply appropriate boundary conditions, loads (pressure, thermal, external forces, seismic), and material properties to accurately simulate real-world conditions.
  • Review, interpret and validate FEA results, comparing them against analytical calculations, code requirements (e.g., ASME BPVC Section VIII Div. 1 & 2, API, TEMA), and industry best practices.
  • Develop and validate FEA models using appropriate meshing techniques and boundary conditions.
  • Analyze results, review work of external third party/CONTRACTOR submitted FEA reports with appropriate design recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide insights for design optimization, material selection, and identification of critical areas and focus on problem solving.
  • Recommend design modifications to improve equipment performance, extend service life, reduce manufacturing costs, and enhance safety.
  • Support the modifications to existing equipment. Support failure analysis, fitness-for-service assessments, and design optimization.
  • Provide technical recommendations for repair/replacement or mitigation strategies based on FEA findings.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive FEA reports, including model descriptions, assumptions, input data, results (stress contours, deformations), conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Present FEA findings to internal and external stakeholders clearly and concisely.
  • Maintain detailed records of analysis work, including models, input files, and reports
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers as needed.
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation within FEA tools (e.g., APDL, Python).
  • Exposure to multi-physics simulations (thermal-structural, fluid-structure interaction).
  • Ensure all FEA work adheres to COMPANY specifications and relevant industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ASME, API, TEMA, EN, PED).
  • Stay updated with the latest revisions of applicable codes and standards.
  • Proficiently use leading FEA software packages such as ANSYS Mechanical/Workbench, Abaqus etc).
  • Utilize CAD software for model preparation (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stake holders and communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, with at least 4–5 years specifically focused on static equipment design and FEA.
  • Proficiency in FEA tools such as ANSYS, PV Elite, or similar.
  • Experience with offshore static equipment and brownfield modifications is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ADNOC specifications and applicable international codes (ASME, API, EN). .

Greetings from NES! We have an opportunity for Static Equipment Design Engineer
Role:
Static Equipment Design Engineer
Location - Dubai (UAE)
Experience: 4 to 8 Years
Industry: O&G, EPCM/PMC & FEED
Contract is for one year with possible
Schedule: 5 days a week, 8 hours a day Responsible for:

  • Perform detailed design and calculation of static equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, air-cooled heat exchangers, and storage tanks. Ensure designs are compliant with applicable international codes (ASME Section VIII, API 650, TEMA, etc.) and project specifications.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation including data sheets, design calculations, and fabrication drawings.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, procurement teams, and vendors to align technical deliverables.
  • Provide support during design reviews, client meetings, and technical discussions.
  • Contribute to internal QA/QC processes by reviewing calculations and drawings for accuracy and compliance.
  • Support vendor technical bid evaluations and review vendor documents related to static equipment
Qualification & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 6–10 years of hands-on experience in the design of pressure vessels and static equipment in the oil & gas, petrochemical, or energy sector.
  • Proficient in ASME Section VIII, API 650, TEMA, API 661, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Skilled in design and analysis software such as PV Elite, Compress, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and FEA tools.
  • Familiar with fabrication and inspection practices related to static equipment. Strong communication skills in English; Arabic is a plus.
  • Team-oriented, detail-focused, and capable of working in a multicultural engineering environment
