Education And Experience
- Master / Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering and 8+ years’ experience in AEC industry, minimum 3 years’ experience in Middle East region.
- 5+ years’ experience in digital delivery of complex, multidisciplinary projects (Information Management / BIM), with experience in managing a team to support the engineering design teams.
- Software certification such as Revit, Civil3D, plant3D etc. is desirable.
- Information Management certification by a relevant institution e.g. BRE, Operam Academy, RICS etc. is a plus
Key Skill Requirements
- A thorough understanding of the data, information management and BIM including compliance to ISO 19650 standards.
- Sound knowledge in engineering design and to lead and assist design team in Self / Inter disciplinary services coordination, quality compliance etc.
- Expert knowledge of BIM authoring tools from various software providers such as Autodesk, Bentley in delivery of multi-disciplinary projects.
- Expert knowledge of model federation and co-ordination platforms such as Navisworks, BIM Track for performing tasks like clash detection and resolution, model walkthrough and issue tracking and management.
- Expert knowledge of Common Data Environment (CDE) such as BIM360, ACC and ProjectWise.
- Work within our Structural Engineering team and collaborate with our inhouse and external disciplines to ensure successful delivery of projects from concept to completion.
- Create, maintain and ensure the BIM Execution plan and Project standards are adhered to by project team. Initiate project set-up, lead BIM kick-off meetings and prepare digital models for our design teams.
- Be comfortable in leading and liaising with external parties and partners on BIM and digital model related queries.
- Knowledge of automation tools such as Dynamo, Rhino, Grasshopper.
- Ability to develop technical documentation for Information Management / BIM.
- Experienced in implementation, training and utilization of Information Management tools from Autodesk, Bentley, Trimble etc.

Job Duties
- As Digital Champion of our Structural Engineering practice, you will be responsible for ensuring that our digital content is produced, stored, shared and exploited using the latest technologies and practices as agreed by the business.
- Setup sheets strategy in authoring platform and coordinate with other Digital Champions and Information Managers.
- Provide input and review related part of Information Management documents e.g., Pre- and Post-BEP, federation strategy, Level of Information Need, responsibility matrix etc.
- Implement and maintain internal and external capability and capacity processes.
- Initiate, populate and update structural engineering Task Information Delivery Plans (MIDP Online Tool), to meet the Appointing Parties Requirements.
- Coordinate and collaborate in AtkinsRéalis’ CDE (BIM 360) and ensure project team’s utilization of CDE.
- Collaborate with other task team Digital Champion and conduct multidisciplinary coordination
- Ensure that all QA / QC checks have been performed on all models before clash detection or visual checks.
- Perform intra- and interdisciplinary clash detections during design development, support and ensure the resolution of clashes in line with related design stage(s).
- Ensure information model delivered by subconsultant (appointed party) is complete with quality assurance check and as per project information requirements.
- Review and define subconsultant (appointed party) digital delivery requirements for tender.
- Ensure that discipline utilises design reuse libraries.
- Ensure that discipline utilises automation library.
- Ensure GDF workflows and processes are followed in project delivery on task team level.
- Ensure that the following are properly implemented and applied by the structural engineering design team team : BIM execution planInformation Exchange ProcessesSelf-disciplinary co-ordination workflows including clash matrices.Check and review processes (both technical and quality) for deliverables utilizing digital toolsFile naming convention for deliverables and process for updating status and revision codes in compliance with ISO 19650LOD / LOI to be generated in BIM Models across stages in the project lifecycle
- Provide input to Information Manager regarding any discipline related risks along the project stages (including risk register)
- Capture Information Management lessons learnt in the online knowledge database.
- Support strategic regional digital initiatives.
- Support annual ISO certification from structural engineering practice perspective.
- Single point of contact for Information Managers all required information management and BIM tasks of the structural engineering design team including escalation of design authoring tools and platforms issues.
- Provide technical advice on software and technology involved in the delivery of projects to the BIM processes and workflows in regards to the structural engineering practice.

The Director - Building Design shall provide leadership, direction and oversee technical excellence associated with the E&D - Building Design Capability (as part of the E&D - Capability) for the Middle East business. Directly responsible for the quality of E&D - Building Design deliverables. Working closely with the Markets and Accounts to ensure regional business revenue and EBIT targets are met, with a focus on maximising profit from the overall E&D - Capability. The various measurable aspects to this role and associated KPI's are as follows:
- Capability Strategy - Support Regional Director - E&D in development and implementation of strategy to achieve E&D - Capability performance aligned with Long Range Plan (LRP) (5-year plan), annual Business Plan and proposed targets specific to E&D (ensuring E&D - Building Design executes required strategic initiatives to contribute to E&D strategy). This includes supporting the Markets and Accounts to meet targets for P&L, EBIT and Headcount.
- Resource Demand Management - Support in the management of resource requirements, specific to E&D - Building Design Capability, providing leadership in recruitment, retention and performance. Review the technical offers including deviations submitted by bidders highlight and resolve technical clarification during tendering process. Review of the technical recommendation report.
- Shall Review and comment on design drawings, documents, materials, BIM Model and vendors submitted by contractors or consultants to ensure quality, compliance with DEWA's specification, qualification methodology, and scope of works. Finalise non-compliance note on submittals.
- Shall attend factory inspections whenever required to ensure the products are in line with DEWA approval/specification and international standards. Ensure proper documentation of the inspection results and document the observations noticed during the inspection. Review compliance statement and provide recommendations for issuance of Dispatch Clearance.
- Shall Coordinate and participate in various technical, design and progress meetings to resolve raised technical problems and to ensure the smooth running of projects.
- Shall Liaise with DEWA user departments to offer solutions on technical issues raised to ensure compliance to DEWA’s requirements.
