A Tax Accountant in the UAE is responsible for managing tax-related financial matters, ensuring compliance with UAE VAT laws and the newly introduced Corporate Tax regulations . They assist businesses in optimizing tax strategies, preparing tax returns, and handling financial audits.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and file VAT returns as per UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) regulations
- Ensure compliance with UAE Corporate Tax laws
- Maintain accurate tax records and financial statements
- Conduct tax audits and reconcile tax liabilities
- Advise on tax-saving strategies and risk mitigation
- Liaise with the FTA and external auditors for tax matters
- Stay updated on changes in UAE tax regulations
- Use accounting software such as Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or Zoho Books
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Certified Tax Agent (FTA Registered) or ACCA, CPA, CMA (preferred)
Strong knowledge of UAE VAT laws, Corporate Tax, and IFRS
Experience with tax audits and compliance reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Tax Manager Responsibilities: VAT & Corporate Tax - Control preparation and review of VAT (monthly) and Corporate Tax (annual) calculations. - Verify transaction categories and VAT rates (0%, 5%, exempt, out of scope). - Monitor operation journals for proper classification, accounting logic, and data completeness. - Maintain up-to-date tax calendar and filing deadlines. FTA Interaction & Reporting - Work with FTA UAE portal: submission of VAT/CT returns, monitor notifications and requests. - Prepare responses to official inquiries, participate in inspections and audits. - Ensure company readiness for e-Invoicing / Digital Tax Invoice implementation. Communication & Training - Advise colleagues and clients on tax matters (reverse charge, import/export VAT, free zones, etc.). - Collect missing documents from related departments and organize proper archiving. - Train the team on FTA updates and clarifications.
Requirements
- Higher education in Taxation, Accounting, or Finance. - Minimum 2 years of UAE tax experience (VAT, Corporate Tax). - Strong knowledge of UAE tax regulations: FTA VAT Guide, Corporate Tax Law, Transfer Pricing Rules. - Proficiency in QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Google Sheets. - Experience with FTA UAE portal and tax return submission. - English level: Upper-Intermediate or higher (daily oral and written communication).
