Your profile and backgroundWe are looking for a highly skilled and proactive engineer who thrives in complex offshore projects and is passionate about ensuring the highest standards in firefighting and fire detection systems. You have a hands‑on approach, take ownership of your work, and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders to deliver safe and reliable solutions.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ship Operation Techniques, Marine Engineering or a comparable qualification (BSc or higher).

As Technical Engineer Firefighting & Fire Detection, you will play a key role in ensuring that all firefighting and fire detection systems within our 2GW HVDC projects are designed, tested, and implemented safely and efficiently. You will collaborate closely with contractors, internal stakeholders, and project leads to ensure compliance, quality, and operational readiness. Your main tasks include:
- Review all design deliverables from the Stations contractor within your discipline.
- Verify compliance of the design with TenneT’s requirements according to the Systems Engineering methodology.
- Collaborate with the (Sub)Project Lead to manage the EPCI contractor towards successful completion of design and execution.
- Witness testing of your packages at the vendor’s premises.
- Optionally participate in commissioning and testing activities on the construction site.
- Align with internal stakeholders on design topics (e.g., Asset Management, Grid Field Operations, HSE).
- Contribute to the successful implementation of Safety by Design and Systems Engineering.
- Ensure the 2GW standard design is correctly implemented.
