Responsibilities
Major Job Activities:
+ Supply, install, operate, and maintain CATV systems and equipment, including the Government satellite cable network and FM Armed Forces Radio and Television Service radio broadcasts and support the day-to-day technical operations of the CATV infrastructure.
+ Install, repair, and maintain CATV equipment and subsystem equipment, existing RG-6, RG-11, RG-59 cable, interfacility fiber cable, junction boxes, and interface equipment.
+ Install inside cable plant coaxial cable to support expansion of the system, including support to identify defective cable, replace, and bury CATV cabling.
+ Support Commanders' Access Channel, Force Protection Channel, and Morale Channel.
Material & Equipment Directly Used:
Computers, printers, scanners, telephone and general office equipment.
Working Environment:
+ Working environment is a climate-controlled facility. Outdoor temperatures may exceed temperatures of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
+ May require support during periods of non-traditional working hours including nights or weekend

Must be able to lift/push/pull 40 lbs. unassisted

+ Lead-level practical experience with installations, repair, and troubleshooting or maintenance of communications systems or equipment; solving complex problems, understanding the interrelationships of circuits, and the ability to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment; AND
+ Expert in CATV equipment: downlink antennas; LNBs; decoders; modulators; signal monitors; fiber optic distribution equipment; video ticker system; Phase Alternating Line (PAL) encoding system.
