The Speech Therapist is responsible for diagnosing, advising, and treating speech and language problems to help our kids to communicate effectively. They are responsible for giving intervention for communication impairments.
Major Area of Responsibility
- Undertaking assessments
- Planning and providing treatment
- Performing speech therapy sessions with the kids
- Provide emotional and psychological support to children and parents
- Writing, maintaining records and case notes
- Observing, monitoring, assessing, reporting, and documenting children's conditions
- Working with physicians, psychologists, and teachers to carefully monitor kids' progress
Organizational Behavior
- Report directly to the Executive Manager of the Centre
- Internal contacts: Users of the centre's services
- External contacts: Childcare givers at other centres and community resources

Administrative Responsibilities
- Ensure that the record of children is maintained and keep management regularly updated
- Ensure that all records are kept within an efficient filing system
- Outgoing staff should provide a comprehensive handover to incoming staff
- To investigate and prepare reports relating to any accidents or mishaps
- Other duties assigned by the Management from time to time
Physical Demands
- Proper lifting techniques should be used at all times, especially when lifting a child from a wheelchair to bed, bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to commode, wheelchair to chair, and wheelchair to floor
Behavioral Obligations
- Professional behavior of staff is expected at all times and this will be assessed by the management daily
- All staff must wear the proper uniforms during duty as required by the management
- Staff should respect and cooperate with all staff

- Sleeping during duty hours is not allowed

Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist II, III, IV
The Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to provide services to students at various schools within the Central District as needed and assigned by the Central District Office.
Description:
This posting is being used to fill Speech Language Pathologist positions that offer a range of speech-language services to address the unique needs of students. The authorized level of these positions is Speech Language Pathologist IV. Applications are being accepted down to the Speech Language Pathologist II in the event of recruiting difficulties.
Responsibilities:
- Select specific methods or strategies to assess student communicative performance.
- Conduct activity and environmental analysis to determine barriers that limit communicative performance in the natural environment.
- Analyze, interpret, document, and communicate findings.
- Collaborate with team members to determine programming within specified time frames.
- Provide speech-language services to address the unique needs of students, update team members on progress, and recommend changes or rescission of services when needed.
- Collaborate and consult with parents and school personnel to assist with the generalization of skills and instruct students in the use of strategies to gain communicative independence.
- Attend student-focused problem-solving meetings, school staff meetings, evaluation and eligibility meetings, individualized education program meetings, and complex or district staff meetings as needed.
- Observe student performance in the natural environment and integrate findings to determine barriers that limit student participation in the educational setting.
- Collaborate with other school team members to plan educational goals and interventions within specified time frames.
- Develop efficient schedules and workload.
- Attend conferences and assist with in-service training of other educational personnel.
- Confer with student families and outside agencies.
- Provide data on services to students, workload, student progress, equipment and material needs, and any other required information.
- Analyze performance in the natural environment to determine barriers between school/classroom expectations and student performance.
- Provide appropriate services to address the distinctive educational needs of individual and/or groups of students.
- Assist with in-service training of other educational personnel.
- Collect information from a variety of sources and provide data specific to the professional area.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, applicants must possess a master's degree from an accredited college or university in a speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders program approved by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Applicants must also have progressively responsible work experience of the kind, quality, and quantity described below:

- Perform other duties as directed by the HOD or Medical team.
- Hold appropriate qualifications and registration with relevant professional and/or statutory organizations, maintaining a Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) license.
- Maintain and update professional knowledge and skills to screen, assess, and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
- For those with dual qualifications in Audiology, screen and evaluate the hearing status of residents.
- Develop and implement linguistically and culturally appropriate strategies and tools for patient care.
- Employ strategies to manage Arabic first-language speakers, including:Demonstrating knowledge and skills in Arabic phonetics, linguistics, and social language use, especially for Emirati dialects.
Engaging a suitably trained translator when necessary.
Quality, Health, Safety, and Security:
- Adhere to the requirements of the Environment Health and Safety Management System.
- Follow the Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines.
- Understand and comply with emergency preparedness, fire safety, and code policies/plans.
- Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures, cooperating with hospital management to ensure compliance.
- Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures and specific responsibilities.
- Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Report OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues, assisting in preparing risk assessments and incident reports.
- Follow waste management procedures and policies.
- Attend applicable OSH/Infection Control training programs, mock drills, and awareness sessions.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications- Graduate from an approved college or university in Language Therapy.
- Current license in the country of origin, with HAAD license to practice in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in speech and language therapy practice.
- Excellent command of oral and written English; knowledge of Arabic is advantageous but not essential.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a group practice within a hospital setting and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the range and type of services available for aged or disabled persons.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Capacity to review procedures and implement new service delivery models to meet client and organizational needs.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality outcomes and ability to consult with staff on continuous improvement.
- Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
