Your position

As a Global Supply Chain Management Trainee , you will report directly to the Head of SCM, Procurement, and Commercial for the Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa region andplay an integral role in the team. You will:

• Assist in the development and implementation of best practices in supply chain management.
• Support logistics , performance management , Integrated Business Planning (IBP) , and supply planning activities .
• Contribute to the integration of technological solutions to enhance supply chain efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvements in operations.
• Assisting in managing relationships with stakeholders in our logistics department to ensure efficient and cost-effective shipping solutions.
• Working closely with the regional supply chain team to analyse key performance indicators and identify areas for improvement.
• Monitoring inventory levels and recommending adjustments to meet target service levels while minimizing excess inventory.
• Supporting the End-to-End (E2E) Value Chain transformation program.

Your profile

• University degree (minimum BSc)
• Previous professional experience or internship
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); Arabic or Turkish is a plus
• Data analytic skills and good affinity with Microsoft Excel (PowerBI is nice-to-have)

Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University Dubai is currently inviting applications for a fixed term maternity-cover contract to deliver teaching on our Logistics and Supply Chain Management courses. We are seeking someone who could deliver in the following areas:

• Data Analytics
• Managing Business Performance

This role will involve delivering lectures and workshops and undertaking the associated marking. As a Global University our teaching resources are developed by Global Course Leaders to ensure a consistently excellent student experience across all our campuses.

This will be a maternity cover so applicants must be on their own visa and medical insurance.

Roles & Responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking teaching and assessment duties on academic programmes.
• Supporting colleagues in Edinburgh Business School in the delivery of courses and other activities to support the delivery of the universitys aims.
• Supporting the development of relevant materials in appropriate formats.
• Contributing to the content design and delivery and the quality of teaching and learning in consultation with colleagues and within the international structures and mechanisms established by the University.
• Mentoring and supervising students providing effective well documented and timely feedback both formative and summative.
• Providing pastoral support recognising when to refer a student for further support.
• Playing a key role in the delivery and support of an excellent student learning and living experience at HWU.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues at our Dubai campus as well as at our UK & other campuses where applicable and with external networks both for the exchange of information to share learning and to form relationships for future collaboration.
• The typical time commitment includes contact hours within the classroom preparation time assessment & feedback time all over a 12 to 15 week teaching & assessment semester.

Qualifications/Experience:

• PhD or Masters in a relevant field
• At least one year of previous teaching experience (ideally within the UK Higher Education sector)
• Ability to teach either Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate programmes.
• Excellent Communication skills: programmes are delivered in English and so fluency in English is essential.

To effectively manage and maintain a secure, organized, and efficient inventory system.

• Verify incoming goods/tools against supporting documentation to ensure accurate records.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the storeroom at all times.
• Issue tools and goods only against authorized requisitions, adjusting stock control cards accordingly.
• Control access to the area by managing keys.
• Review inventories for obsolete or slow-moving items beyond their shelf life, advising the management team.
• Conduct regular checks between perpetual records and actual stock, investigating discrepancies and reporting as needed.
• Prepare for periodic stock takes at any time.
• Determine optimal stock levels for tools and goods.
• Familiarize yourself with and adhere to established company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• A minimum of 5 years' experience working in contracting companies within the GCC region.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient command of the English language.

• SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED VOCATIONAL TRAINING IN STORE-KEEPING.

As a Procurement and Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement processes and ensuring efficient warehouse operations. Your role is key to maintaining quality, cost-efficiency, and timely availability of products and materials. Additionally, you will assist the operations team in ensuring smooth daily functions across the supply chain and production workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and negotiate with local and international suppliers for materials, packaging, and services.
• Ensure timely procurement of ingredients and inventory in line with production schedules.
• Track and analyze purchasing data, supplier performance, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure reliability and consistency.
• Stay updated on market trends and price fluctuations, especially in the food industry.

Warehouse Management:

• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics, stock control, and storage practices.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and minimize stock discrepancies.
• Implement best practices in warehouse layout, space optimization, and safety.
• Ensure compliance with health and food safety standards.
• Monitor expiry dates, batch tracking, and FIFO systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in procurement and warehouse roles, preferably in the food sector.
• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with inventory software and ERP systems.
• Familiarity with food safety standards and warehouse compliance.
• Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is a plus.
