The Solutions Engineering team works in close collaboration with our managed infrastructure operations team, which runs many private OpenStack clouds and Kubernetes clusters for customers worldwide. This enables us to improve our infra-as-code products based on real user experience. We work in Python, creating open-source automation capabilities that simplify operations for anyone building on Ubuntu.
Most of the team's work involves pure Python software development focused on enabling true DevOps workflows. We strive for high quality in design, documentation, tests, and performance as we enhance operations code packages and Ubuntu itself to ensure the platform is easy to use, robust, and high performing for driving infrastructure.
As an Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility is to the people you lead and support: ensuring they are growing as engineers, doing valuable work, and finding satisfaction in their career at Canonical. Sustaining Engineering is a business critical team that continuously improves various open source software by resolving software defects reported by customers. Software stack includes everything from the kernel all the way up to the user space applications and IaaS platforms. This position leads one of our regional teams and is one of several managers, who report directly to the global Director of Sustaining Engineering.
Our customers build large-scale mission critical infrastructure and application solutions on Ubuntu and open source from Canonical. While not actively developing products, Sustaining Engineering, as part of Support Engineering, solves problems for the customer and for the benefit of the wider Open Source community. This team is well staffed with experts in every time zone and, while the work can be challenging sometimes, the team is resourced to ensure a good work-life balance and ongoing development of each team member.
As an engineering manager in the Sustaining Engineering team, your primary responsibility is to the people you support: ensuring that they are growing as engineers, making valuable contributions, and generally having a great experience at Canonical. - Support CTO towards the implementation of the Engineering expertise to achieve overall strategic and operational plans.

- Responsible for Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), commissioning, Installation Qualification & Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ), of GMP facilities and equipment.
- Establish and develop a comprehensive Maintenance & Operation management system that ensure the correct functioning of Production equipment & Engineering utilities and complying with GMP guidelines
- Ensure effective communication and project plan alignment between business stakeholders, users, Facilities Operations, maintenance, site services, securities, IT, Procurement, Finance, Legal, HR, and all departments regarding all facilities operation's issues
- Establish and Develop Engineering reporting system that facilitates easy analysis and interpretation of all engineering equipment data and appropriate actions taken to mitigate risks.
- Ensure readiness of all relevant Engineering documents for any regularity audits.
