The Principal/Associate – Landscape Architect role is a senior leadership role responsible for leading the planning, design, and implementation of innovative and sustainable landscape architecture projects across the Development, Planning and Urban Design studio’s portfolio of projects. This individual will oversee multidisciplinary teams, provide strategic guidance to clients, and ensure design excellence across a portfolio of public and private sector projects. The role requires a combination of creative vision, technical expertise, project management, and team leadership.
Your new role, what's involved?
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of landscape architecture projects from concept through to construction.
- Develop and present masterplans, site planning, public realm designs, and environmental strategies.
- Significant capability and experience in front-end creative concept design and ‘storytelling’ leading the creative vision and design narrative for projects.
- Serve as the primary client liaison, maintaining strong relationships and identifying opportunities for business development.
- Manage and mentor a team of landscape architects, designers, and consultants.
- Develop design strategies, vision and narratives for the Concept and Detail Master Plans and ensure these are aligned, followed and developed into the post master plan design stages.
- Review project documentation to ensure design quality, compliance with regulations, and alignment with client goals.
- Collaborate with architects, urban designers, engineers, and other consultants in multidisciplinary teams.

- Strong portfolio demonstrating design excellence and a variety of project types – in particular with Master Plans at a range of spatial scales.
- Proven experience in project management, client engagement, and team leadership.

About the Role
The Associate Director for Landscape Architecture will be responsible for a high profile PIF project and oversee the design and production work of the Dubai studio landscape architects. The role is one of three Associate Directors for Landscape Architecture, and you would be responsible for co-managing the Landscape team of over 60 people and ensuring successful delivery of Landscape projects to a high quality of design and technical standards in accordance with the Client s expectations.
The Associate Director Landscape Architect will be required to demonstrate a strong understanding of local and international landscape architecture and urban design.
Primary responsibilities:
• Demonstrate an expert understanding of the aesthetic, technical, resource, and financial aspects of landscape architecture.
• Demonstrate the ability to work with one of the un a design process from pre-conceptual design through to final design with an understanding of production techniques, procedures, and standards.
• Possess the ability to present to clients at a business development level and also the design from the outset of the project.
• Demonstrate an expert understanding of industry codes/standards/health and safety requirements and sustainability regulations.
• Development and mentoring of a team within the studio
• Work with the studio management team for the daily running and also the development of the studio.
• Work collaboratively with the master planning team to develop design at a landscape master planning level.

About You
Core requirements:
• Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from an accredited University or College programme.
• Minimum eighteen (18+) years of continuous experience in landscape architecture. International experience in North America, Europe, Middle East and Asia is preferable.
• Demonstrate a team oriented and collaborative approach to landscape architecture within the design team.
• Demonstrate an expert understanding of the regional construction industry, local construction methods and their influence on design decisions.
• Demonstrate a solid commitment to quality design.
• Demonstrate solid communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Possess self-motivation, work part of the team but also have the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrate an understanding of key design related computer programs such as BIM, Adobe suites and 3D modelling software.
• Possess professional registration, licensure or chartership with an internationally recognized professional association.
• Fluency in English, verbal and written. Proficiency in other languages, especially Arabic, is highly regarded.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES
Successful applicants to the position of Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor
should possess:
- A terminal degree in a design-related field or equivalent professional experience
- An advanced degree
related to environmental/parametric design - Three years of university-level teaching experience-either full-time, adjunct, or
visiting scholar-at the undergraduate and graduate levels, or equivalent professional experience in a design-related field with an emphasis
on computation
Successful applicants to more senior ranks should also possess:
- A PhD related to environmental/parametric design, and
- Seven years of university-level teaching experience at the
undergraduate and graduate levels, or equivalent professional experience in a design-related field with an emphasis on generative/
computational design
Areas of expertise in two or more of the following areas:

- A terminal degree in a design-related field or equivalent professional experience

- Be familiar with emerging trends in machine learning and AI

CUD offers an environment where Canadian values of Higher Education meet creatively and complementarily with the local culture and academic higher education regulations. The School understands architecture and interior design as manifestations of social and cultural life in space. It conceives architectural and interior design as creative processes giving spatial forms to human values by organizing material and environmental conditions in the urban context; It considers that architectural design creations must provide inspiring enclosure for human activity and thinking to thrive. The School offers a five-year Bachelor of Architecture, a four-year Bachelor of Science in Interior Design, and a two-year Master of Science in Design Innovation for Circular Economy, while it is expanding its educational ecosystem to shape a more comprehensive design landscape.
PROFILE
The candidate's teaching and research area is that of environmental design methods and tools for pursuing carbon neutrality in the built environment through open innovation. The application domains include, without being limited to, the performance of building envelope, and urban and landscape design, achieved through the integration of material environmental science, driven by emerging technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to this research field by developing innovative concepts, tools and platforms to intertwine passive and active environmental control techniques through digital innovation, and to link them to industrial applications. This research area can contribute to developing innovative projects for the reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions, improvement of indoor and outdoor comfort, urban resilience, the mitigation of heat islands and of other effects brought about by climate change.
Responsibilities
Teach 12 credits, typically resulting in one design studio and two taught courses a semester, including student academic mentoring
- Research through the classic academic realm via research projects, innovations, and publications or via industrial/architectural design or digital fabrication practice. Publications at a level appropriate for the discipline and designation. Applications to external research funds
- Service to support the administrative side of the department, school and the university or extracurricular activities for students, staff, and discipline.
- Participation in departmental activities and administrative life.
- Positions of administrative responsibility at departmental/school level.
Successful applicants to the position of Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor should possess:

We seek a dynamic Senior Site Architect to join our rapidly growing site team in Dubai. This role requires someone with expertise in monitoring architectural works for compliance with contract documents and procedures manuals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hands-on monitoring of architectural works for conformance with contract documents and procedures manuals.
- Reviewing and processing all architectural technical submittals.
- Responding to RFIs related to architecture.
- Coordinating and supervising the work of architectural activities and operations.
- Reviewing contractors' architectural change order proposals and providing recommendations to the Architectural PM.
- Liaising with other disciplines and coordinating with necessary subcontractors.
- Reviewing contractors' claims related to architectural works and preparing recommendations for claims to the Architectural PM.
- Reviewing project record documents relevant to architectural discipline.
- Managing architectural inspectors.
- Analyzing laboratory and testing reports.
- Assisting with the inspection of completed works and monitoring start-up, testing, commissioning, and handover of architectural works.
- Signing off on completed architectural works with completed documentation.
- Preparing weekly planning and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
- Minimum 15 years of ME experience, including 6-8 years in UAE working in international consultant environments.
- Strong technical knowledge in exterior envelope details and material interfaces.
- Familiarity with Dubai and UAE building codes.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office business solutions (Excel, Word).
- Able to review and comment properly on necessary documentation.
- Knowledge or experience with AUTO CAD.
- Understanding of specifications and Authority requirements.
- Complete project understanding from start to hand-over.
