Job DescriptionJOB PURPOSE:
- Key role within the Loan Capital Markets & Sustainable Finance team with a focus to originate and execute Project Finance transactions with WBG, IBM & PCG clients of the Bank and to support the Project Finance, and Export Finance transactions of the LCM & SF team
- Develop relationships with project developers, banks, Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) and other Project Finance advisors/professionals to identify financing opportunities that are aligned to FAB's credit appetite
- Work closely with the Wholesale Banking Group, Investment Banking & Markets and Privileged Client Group coverage teams and other product teams of FAB
- Develop strategic relationships with important internal stakeholders such as Credit etc.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The role encompasses, working as a team and enhancing the bank's capabilities in project and export finance covering all forms of financing structures in addition to identifying opportunities for origination and deal placement. This involves the following:
- Originate, structure, and execute PF transactions for FAB clients globally across the IB and CCB segments and deliver a revenue target in contribution to the overall LCM & SF/GCF budget
- Contribute to the Project Finance Business Strategy and sharing industry knowledge / market trends
- Proactively contribute to the Sustainability agenda and structure PF transactions where possible as ESG (Green/Social/Sustainability linked) Financing and structure transactions in compliance with FAB's ESG policies and Equator Principles
- Advise and structure bespoke/tailor-made financing solutions to meet the needs of the clients and lead negotiations with clients on key commercial and legal terms
- Undertake PF advisory mandates selectively for strategic reasons for key clients of FAB
- Prepare green light memos, credit memos, specialized project waivers and amendment requests and engage with Credit to obtain approvals including analyzing project agreements, various due diligence reports, financial model including running sensitivities/projections
- Prepare financing pitch books, term sheets, information memorandum, financial models, mandate letters etc., and review feasibility report, financial statements and financial, legal and technical due diligence reports
- Review, negotiate and conclude, in close co-ordination with lender's and borrower's legal counsels, in house lawyers, financing and security documentation – to ensure compliance with credit approved terms
- Cross-sell other FAB products and services to clients as part of the PF loan offering, i.e. Agency, DCM, interest rate and currency swaps, account bank role etc.
- Identify opportunities within the existing PF loan book through a combination of refinance and restructuring
- Accurate and timely reporting of relevant transactions for deal/house awards, League Table submissions, deal highlights/case studies for internal circulation etc.
Budgets and Plans
- Contribute to the sub-departmental budget and make the Head of Loan Capital Markets & Sustainable Finance aware of performance gaps with suggestions to rectify and improve performance
Internal Collaboration
- Maintain strong internal relations and collaborate with Coverage partners to maximize product development & revenue generation opportunities.
- Build and develop strategic relationship with Credit and proactively engage with them to achieve a positive decision on proposed transactions
Policies, Systems, Processes, & Procedures
- Assist with the implementation of departmental policies, systems, and procedure so that all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality service.
MIS and Reports
- Provide inputs in the preparation of timely and accurate sub-departmental statements and reports to meet FAB's and departmental requirements, policies, and standards
Knowledge & Experience:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in managing and facilitating corporate finance loans business in a banking environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Project Finance sector, various asset assessment tools and FAB's products and business strategies
- Deep understanding of the utilities and infrastructure sectors, working knowledge and contacts in the syndicated loan & debt capital market as well as Sustainable Finance
- Understanding of Project Finance (PF) structures, typical participants, assessment tools, and knowledge of international PF markets, syndicated loan & debt capital markets
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to understand financing structures based on the current & expected market conditions.
- Ability to multi-task with strong credit, structuring and LMA documentation expertise
- Strong negotiating skills and ability to exercise good judgment which balances needs of client, investors and FAB
- Solid understanding of accounting and financial statements as well as financial modelling
- Ability to work under pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities
