This role is at the centre of Airalo’s global operational scalability. You will be responsible for developing and enforcing a tax and regulatory compliance framework that keeps pace with our hypergrowth. As Head of Tax & Compliance, you will ensure that Airalo meets all direct and indirect tax obligations across 100+ jurisdictions while advising the business on tax-efficient structures and future-proofing our international operations for public market readiness.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Build a globally consistent and locally compliant tax structure across >100 active markets, managing complex digital tax requirements
- Oversee end-to-end indirect tax processes including VAT/GST registrations, filings, reconciliations, and audits
- Develop and implement robust transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transaction flows; work closely with legal and finance
- Identify and mitigate tax risks such as permanent establishment exposure, withholding tax gaps, and cross-border payment compliance
- Engage with third-party tax consultants, local authorities, and internal stakeholders to align on tax obligations and risk appetite
- Monitor evolving global tax regulations and drive internal alignment on required adjustments
- Establish internal tax policies, compliance calendars, and a reporting dashboard for global tax status and exposure
- Support finance and legal teams during funding, acquisitions, and legal entity restructuring with appropriate tax advice and filings
- Expertise in indirect tax (VAT, GST, DST) across emerging and developed markets, especially digital commerce
- Deep knowledge of transfer pricing frameworks and experience preparing TP documentation and local files
- Strong command of global economic substance rules
- Familiarity with automated tax reporting platforms (Avalara, Vertex) and building compliance dashboards
- Risk-focused, yet solution-oriented in balancing business enablement and regulatory obligations
- Ability to engage with tax authorities, legal teams, and external advisors across geographies
