Basic Function & Scope

Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates CNC (computer numerical controlled) machinery in a joinery factory.

1. Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
2. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining as necessary.
3. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.
4. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerised machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.
5. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
6. Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
7. Sets up and operates the machine on trial run to verify the accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
8. Performs routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
9. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Qualifications:

• Two years of related experience and /or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

• At least 3 years working experience on CNC Machines BIESSE Rover B4 & B3 (2D/3D) & HOMAG in a joinery within the GCC

• Should know operating and programming on the CNC Machine

• Must know Auto-CAD.

The Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various types of machines used in our manufacturing processes, ensuring that all products meet our quality and safety standards. • Set up and operate machines according to specifications, ensuring efficient production and adherence to safety protocols.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machine operation is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Machine Operator in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Familiarity with machine setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
• Physical stamina to stand, lift, and operate machinery for extended periods.

• Experience in the steel manufacturing industry or similar.
• Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001.
• Excellent teamwork skills and a proactive approach to solving production challenges.

The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and continuous operation of the production machinery to meet daily output goals, while strictly adhering to HSE protocols and maintaining product quality standards .

• Safety & Compliance
  • Prioritize Safety: Strictly adhere to all company Health & Safety procedures (including using PPE) and seek clarification if unsure.
  • Follow Instructions: Comply with all instructions from the Shift Leader/Production Management.
  • Procedural Adherence: Follow all operating procedures and quality systems consistently.
• Plant Operation & Efficiency (Dryer Focus)
  • Machine Operation: Safely operate a variety of plant machinery including the Bagging, Mixer, Stacker, Calcination, and Laminator systems (upon successful training).
  • Dryer Control:
    • Verify that doors are sealed, and gas/air valves are open.
    • Start the dryer, adjust burner temperatures according to the production plan, and ensure control panels are on "AUTO."
    • Monitor the dryer operating system and heat exchanger performance and report any faults immediately.
  • Downtime Minimization: Keep detailed records, concisely report all issues to the Shift Leader and Maintenance team, and carry out basic maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Shift Handover: Provide and receive a comprehensive handover report at the start and end of every shift.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain 5S standards and a "clean-as-you-go" environment.
• Quality & Improvement
  • Quality Checks: Liaise with QC personnel to check board quality and make necessary dryer temperature adjustments to meet quality standards.
  • Process Improvement: Actively participate in process improvement projects, team forums (like Staff Council/H&S), and take the lead in identifying and implementing resultant changes.
  • Problem Solving: Investigate failures and develop new procedures to ensure high‑quality output and maximize production.

• HMI (Advanced SCADA system Ex. WIN CC).
• English A2 level or above is a must.
