- Train and supervise kitchen assistants as needed
- Prepare meals using outdoor cooking equipment and techniques when required
- Adjust recipes and cooking methods to suit local ingredients and climate conditions
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a camp cook or in large-scale food service operations
- Strong culinary skills with the ability to prepare a variety of nutritious and tasty meals
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Valid food safety certification
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing conditions
- Experience in outdoor cooking and familiarity with camp operations (preferred)
- Culinary degree or certificate (preferred)
- Physical stamina to work long hours in a hot climate
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Familiarity with dietary restrictions and special meal requirements
- Creativity in meal planning and presentation
