Job Purpose
We are looking to onboard a highly skilled CTD MWD Field Engineer to support real-time data acquisition, tool management, and directional control during coiled tubing drilling operations. This role is critical to the success of a newly awarded project involving advanced 3D well placement, where precision, reliability, and seamless execution are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and operate MWD tools integrated with Coiled Tubing Drilling BHAs, ensuring optimal data acquisition and directional guidance.
- Perform real-time data monitoring, gamma and directional logging, and toolface control to support directional driller execution.
- Validate and calibrate MWD sensors before deployment and verify tool readiness during pre-job checks.
- Monitor telemetry and downhole signal quality, troubleshoot tool failures, and ensure uninterrupted data flow to surface.
- Work closely with directional drillers, CTD supervisors, and surface systems to align on drilling parameters and adjustments.
- Generate accurate and timely field reports, including surveys, tool run records, and end-of-well documentation.
- Participate in rig-up/rig-down, system integration testing, and communication checks with surface units.
- Maintain strict adherence to company HSE policies and participate in safety briefings, audits, and incident reporting protocols.
- Provide on-site support to the client and ensure service quality meets or exceeds expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
- (Relevant experience may substitute for formal education on a case-by-case basis.)
- Strong understanding of MWD tool physics, sensor placement, and telemetry systems (e.g., positive pulse, EM, or wired pipe).
- +7 years of MWD field experience, with at least 2 years in Coiled Tubing Drilling environments.
- Experience working with downhole logging tools compatible with CTD operations.
- Familiarity with directional drilling workflows and coordination with DD teams.
- Competence in using MWD software platforms for tool configuration, data download, and log generation.
- Experience in horizontal, deviated, or multilateral wellbores is an asset.
- Strong technical acumen in telemetry and directional measurements.
- Effective communicator in high-pressure, field-based environments.
- Commitment to service quality, equipment reliability, and HSE compliance.
- Flexible and adaptable to challenging rig site conditions and rotational schedules.
