The Equipment Operator is responsible for sorting, moving, loading, and offloading cargo to and from aircraft as instructed, including manual handling of baggage, cargo, mail, and hand baggage as required.

Accountabilities

• Operate any type of Ground Service Equipment (GSE) they are trained to use, following instructions.
• Check cargo holds and surrounding areas for abnormalities or unusual occurrences, including missing or damaged parts and unidentified items within the cargo holds.
• Ensure GSE is in good working condition by performing basic checks and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe and secure operation.
• Comply with UAE laws, rules, procedures, and guidelines set by Etihad Airport Services, Etihad Airways, and Customer Airlines regarding quality, safety, security, operational matters, and special products.
• Operate safely in accordance with applicable procedures and instructions; report safety, security, and service incidents, errors, hazards, and near misses through established reporting procedures.
• Follow all operational procedures at all times, including the use of handheld devices.

Education & Experience

• Valid driver’s license from U.A.E.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience.

• Airside Ramp and Cargo

The purpose of this role is to operate GSE for which he is fully trained and carry out a full range of ramp handling activities as a member of a ramp team in order to deliver a safe and timely turnaround service to customer airlines.

• To collect, transport and manually load all passenger baggage and allocated freight onto a range of different types of customer aircraft in order to deliver the timely ramp handling services in line with agreed procedures and health and safety regulations.
• To carry out daily ground services equipment inspections checks, report any faults immediately following the company’s procedure and remove any defective/unserviceable equipment from the operation.
• To operate all vehicles and ramp equipment used during aircraft handling, according to current standards and procedures, so as to minimise risk of injury to self and others and damage to customer aircraft.
• To carry out a range of other ramp duties, as delegated by the Team Leader, during the offloading, loading and air start, in accordance with agreed procedures and customer service level agreements, to ensure the safe and on time performance.
• To liaise with the other departments, Dispatchers and the Team Leader about any perceived issues (e.g. misplaced baggage/cargo), so that problems can be swiftly resolved with minimal financial penalty to the business.
• To co-operate, build relationships with and support team members / colleagues, willingly sharing knowledge and experience when needed so as to ensure continual improvements to service are made and Sharjah Aviation Services reputation is seen as positive and professional.
• To demonstrate a high standard of behaviour, appearance and timekeeping in compliance with Company codes and standards of conduct, so as to demonstrate professionalism with an inherent respect of colleagues, customer airlines and passengers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Monitors gauges and flow meters and inspects equipment to ensure that tank levels, temperatures, chemical amounts, and pressure are at specified levels, reporting abnormalities as necessary.
• Records operating data such as products and quantities pumped, stocks used, gauging results, and operating times.
• Communicates with other workers, using signals, radios, or telephones, to start and stop flows of materials or substances.
• Tends vessels that store substances such as gases, liquids, slurries, or powdered materials, checking levels of substances by using calibrated rods or by reading mercury gauges and tank charts.
• Turns valves and starts pumps to start or regulate flows of substances such as gases, liquids, slurries, or powdered materials.
• Plan movement of products through lines to processing, storage, and shipping units, utilizing knowledge of interconnections and capacities of pipelines, valve manifolds, pumps, and tanager.
• Reads operating schedules or instructions or receives verbal orders, in order to determine amounts to be pumped.
• Cleans, lubricates, and repairs pumps and vessels, using hand tools and equipment.
• Collects and delivers sample solutions for laboratory analysis.
• Connects hoses and pipelines to pumps and vessels prior to material transfer, using hand tools.
