Job Description

Participates in the collaborative care and education of individuals of all ages, families, groups, and communities, both patients and healthy individuals, across all settings. Responsibilities include promoting health, preventing illness, providing patient care, disabled care, and end-of-life care.

Provides professional leadership through supervision of the patient care team and maintaining clinical standards and quality of care within the unit during their shift.

ResponsibilitiesLeadership
  • Provides professional leadership, acts as a role model and mentor to nursing staff.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and leadership in conflict management and problem-solving.
  • Adopts an interdisciplinary team approach based on mutual respect and direct communication.
  • Liaises with Nurse Manager/Nurse Supervisor to ensure patient safety and appropriate staffing.
  • Monitors clinical care standards, identifies variances, and initiates corrective actions.
  • Provides staff performance feedback, coaching, and support.
  • Participates in committees, organizational activities, and organizational change.
  • May assume management duties in the absence of the Nurse Manager.
  • Shares in staff performance evaluation and goal setting.
  • Performs systematic evaluation of diabetes education and care to meet patient/staff needs.
Clinical Practice
  • Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care and diabetes education.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of patient care and staff compliance.
  • Coordinates individualized care plans, including discharge planning.
  • Assumes accountability for own and staff practice, monitoring competencies.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice.
  • Prioritizes patient care based on ongoing assessment.
  • Identifies and responds to changes in patient condition, supports escalation of care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in pain management and supports staff in escalation.
  • Coordinates referrals and utilizes available resources.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and supports cultural sensitivity.
  • Ensures medication safety and compliance with policies.
  • Collaborates with pharmacy, reports adverse reactions, and supports medication safety initiatives.
  • Guides emergency response and provides clinical, educational, administrative advice.
Communication
  • Liaises with healthcare providers for interventions and discharge planning.
  • Provides comprehensive handovers using SBAR.
  • Attends rounds, communicates changes, and updates care plans.
  • Ensures proper documentation and maintains professional boundaries.
Performance Improvement/Risk Management
  • Leads quality improvement activities, reviews standards, and reports outcomes.
  • Monitors unit operations, identifies risks, and implements improvements.
  • Participates in environmental rounds and risk reporting.
  • Provides education on safety and infection control.
  • Participates in mock drills and investigates incidents.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and infection control policies.
Patient and Family Education
  • Assesses education needs, develops tailored education plans.
  • Delivers culturally sensitive diabetes self-management education.
  • Uses appropriate teaching techniques, promotes technology use.
  • Supports health promotion activities and collaborates with the team.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Practices within scope, adheres to codes of conduct.
  • Identifies learning needs, completes competencies, and acts as a resource.
  • Integrates current research into practice.
  • Participates in research and professional development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Nursing (with NCLEX or equivalent).
  • Minimum 1-year postgraduate specialized program.
  • Preferred CE in Diabetes Education, ongoing postgraduate courses.
Experience
  • 3 years post-qualification experience, including 1 year in a leadership role.
  • UAE nurses: 2 years post-qualification, including 6 months leadership.
Additional Requirements
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • Participation in quality improvement projects beneficial.
  • Arabic speaker required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience :-

Required:
  • NLT 6 year's clinical experience post qualification in an appropriate & relevant healthcare settings and Positive written references which must identify specific responsibilities as a clinical resource nurse.

Desired:
  • 1 year as an educator

Educational Qualification: Required:
  • Bachelor degree in nursing OR
  • Degree in Nursing (minimum two (2) years course duration) AND Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia
  • AND valid/current national license.
