The OCS/SCADA Engineer plays a critical role in specifying, integrating, and optimizing the Overhead Contact System (OCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) solutions within large-scale rail system enhancement and fleet procurement projects. The position bridges electrical infrastructure and control system requirements, ensuring robust, reliable, and safe operation aligned with project deliverables and industry standards.
Missions/Main Duties
- Lead or support the assessment of existing OCS and SCADA environments, identifying necessary enhancements to support the introduction of new rolling stock and upgraded rail systems.
- Prepare and review detailed technical specifications for OCS and SCADA components and interfaces, ensuring compliance with regulatory and project standards.
- Oversee or participate in the design, configuration, and integration of OCS and SCADA systems, focusing on interoperability with rolling stock, substations, and other control systems.
- Evaluate vendor and contractor technical submissions, design documents, and implementation plans to verify alignment with project objectives and interface requirements.
- Develop test procedures and support comprehensive testing and commissioning of OCS and SCADA installations, including interface validation with rolling stock, energy management, and train control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration challenges during lab, field, and trial runs in collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Develop and review documentation for system operation, maintenance, and training, ensuring smooth handover to operations teams and future maintainers.
- Provide specialist technical advice on the optimization and upgrading of OCS and SCADA systems to improve network availability, reliability, and safety.
- Work closely with internal engineering teams, external suppliers, and project stakeholders to coordinate multi-disciplinary activities and technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer, issue tracking, and technical workshops as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 15 years' experience of relevant experience in similar rail projects.
