We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Automation Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of automation systems that validate our critical business processes and drive measurable quality across the organisation. The ideal candidate will play a key role in building automated test coverage, performance monitoring, and deployment validation pipelines, while also ensuring the broader QA framework is effectively adopted across teams. The candidate will be focused on building out these automated testing frameworks for cryptocurrency market making technology, with inherent high availability and quality standards. This role is highly cross-functional: you will collaborate with product, engineering, and delivery to implement best practices that support scalable, reliable systems.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
You will report to a Delivery Manager, and be guided by a QA Capability Lead to align practices across the business:
- Design, implement, and maintain automation frameworks for validating end-to-end business processes and critical system functions.
- Develop test strategies that support key QA framework KPIs, including coverage of critical business logic, process adherence, change failure rates, and performance monitoring.
- Build and integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, safe releases.
- Partner with Product and Delivery Managers to drive adoption of standard QA processes across teams.
- Support the creation and maintenance of high-quality documentation for critical business functions and features.
- Implement monitoring and alerting to ensure production stability and fast incident response.
- Analyse trends in deployment success/failures and performance degradations to proactively improve system quality.
- Track and report progress on quality metrics and KPIs to stakeholders.
- Contribute to operational runbooks for incident response and system recovery.
- Mentor engineers and QA team members on automation and testing best practices.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks (backend and functional).
- Proficiency with modern automation tools (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).

We are seeking a skilled QA Automation Engineer to join our Scoring team, focusing on both automation and manual testing within a microservices environment. In this role you'll be an integral part of our backend development team, ensuring that our product meets the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Balance efforts between automated and manual testing, ensuring thorough coverage of our microservices and API interactions;
- Lead and execute integration tests, particularly where our services interact with other teams' systems, to identify and resolve issues at the intersection of these interactions;
- Focus on API testing to ensure our services communicate effectively and meet all performance and reliability requirements.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of test documentation, helping to establish standardized testing processes and raise the overall competency level within the QA team.
- 3+ years of experience as manual QA and at least 2 year of experience as Automation QA;
- Good knowledge of testing and development processes;
- Solid understanding and hands-on experience with testing in a microservices architecture;
- Proficiency in automation tools, with a focus on testing integration points and APIs. Experience with Golang or similar languages is a plus;
- Strong analytical skills to identify issues in complex integration scenarios and proactively develop solutions;
- A detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality products through rigorous testing practices.
Relocation
We offer remote work from anywhere in the world and are happy to work out an individual relocation plan for you.
Our employees have the opportunity to choose a country for registration: at the moment those are Armenia/Georgia/Serbia/Portugal/Spain.
We will help you open a legal entity and a bank account. In Armenia and Georgia the taxes are compensated by Tabby. In other countries we provide partial compensation of taxes.
We employ according to B2B contracts (service agreements).

- Flight to one of the mentioned countries.
- Accommodation during the paperwork completion period.
- Opening a bank account and getting a residence permit in one of the mentioned countries.
- Family relocation (dependants).
- New employees can also choose an alternative method of relocation to another country of their choice. In this case, Tabby will reimburse up to $5,000 of verified costs upon opening a legal entity and a bank account.

PositionABOUT THE ROLE

ZOO Digital currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to join our award-winning Research & Development team based in Sheffield city centre. Research & Development work closely with the Product Support Team to create cutting edge software solutions for high profile and industry-leading customers. ZOO's Research & Development department is thriving – you will work as part of a dynamic, lively team with plenty of opportunities for progression and professional development.
The Lead QA Automation Engineer will play a primary role in planning, implementing, leading, and executing all aspects of testing. The role requires hands-on training and mentoring the team in automation, plus developing and evolving ZOO's QA processes.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a team of QA engineers, providing training and technical guidance.
- Developing and maintaining automated test scripts using Cypress.
- Conducting code reviews and providing feedback on automation code and processes.
- Collaborating with development teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
- Ensuring test coverage for critical path tests of internal and external products.
- Performing API testing, with experience in tools like Schemathesis being a plus.
- Driving the quality assurance process and ensuring best practices in test automation.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The Lead QA Automation Engineer is a key role for ZOO's Research & Development team. We are looking for applicants experienced in software quality assurance, with previous demonstrable experience of leading a team of QA engineers. Extensive automation experience is essential. The successful applicant will have a full understanding of the software development process and testing methodologies, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.
We are also looking for applicants with the following skills and experience:
- Proven experience in leading QA and automation efforts.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, preferably GitLab.
- Familiarity with test management tools such as Xray Test Management for Jira.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
We are also keen to hear from applicants with the following:
- Experience with API testing tools such as Schemathesis.
- Familiarity with other automation frameworks.
