A Construction Engineer specializing in Rigging is responsible for planning, supervising and executing the safe and efficient movement of heavy equipment and materials on construction sites. This role involves a deep understanding of rigging techniques, equipment and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Lift Planning: Developing detailed lift plans including selecting appropriate equipment cranes, hoists etc., calculating load capacities and outlining safety procedures.
- Rigging Hardware Selection: Choosing the correct rigging hardware slings, shackles etc. and ensuring it is properly inspected and certified for use.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all rigging operations adhere to safety regulations including those related to load limits, rigging techniques and personnel training.

- Rigging Principles and Techniques: Possessing in-depth knowledge of rigging principles, heavy lifting techniques and relevant industry standards ASME, OSHA etc.
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving technical issues that arise during rigging operations ensuring the safe and efficient completion of lifts.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 15+ years of experience in rigging and lifting operations with a strong focus on oil & gas projects onshore/offshore.
- In-depth knowledge of heavy lifting techniques, crane operations, rigging hardware and safety procedures.
- Familiarity with international standards such as ASME, API, LOLER and OSHA.
- Proficient in lift planning software and AutoCAD preferred.

Main Responsibilities & Key Result Areas
- Be responsible for coordinating EnerMech's Riggers to conduct all vessel lifts and those on the platform as directed by the Crane Supervisor or client personnel.
- Ensure that persons under their supervision involved in or in the area where materials handling operations are being conducted:
- Are trained in the techniques required for the safe execution of their work.
- Only use equipment that has been inspected and certified under client requirements.
- Do not try to manually handle an article beyond their physical capability to manage.

- Maintain a lifting equipment database & issuance register consisting of the following:

- Assist TPI with the inspection & recertification of lifting equipment in line with clients' Bi-annual lifting equipment campaign.
- Maintain loose lifting equipment in a safe and operable condition.
- Carry out pre-use inspection of loose lifting equipment.
- Carry out minor repairs to loose lifting equipment, e.g., repair of safety catches.
- Carry out Banking/Signalman duties as required.
- Prepare lifting plans for routine and non-routine simple lifting operations.
- Plan and risk assess all routine and non-routine simple crane lifting operations associated with the day-to-day running of the client platforms.
- Be aware of the hazards associated with, and on the perimeter of their work area.
- Supervise all lifting operations on client platforms, including non-routine complex lifts once approved by the Integrity Division.
- Complete reports, lifting operation risk assessments, logs, and other documentation as required.
- Have sufficient general engineering knowledge of loose lifting equipment to carry out daily inspection routines.
- Assist Crane Operator Maintainer & Maintainers in carrying out routine crane lubrication duties following specified lubrication schedules.
- Assist in maintaining the cranes in a clean and tidy condition, including cabs, machinery housing and external surfaces.
- Assist EnerMech's Crane maintenance personnel in the performance of routine maintenance, repair activities and equipment change-out.
- Carry out platform emergency duties under the direction of nominated personnel.
- Be multi-skilled in other platform duties including operating of firefighting equipment and undertaking fire standby and deck duties when required.
- Lifting operation support for shutdowns and major plant maintenance campaigns can be supplemented by EnerMech's Project Engineer and Ad-Hoc Crew as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Should be able to read and write English fluently.
- Should be experienced, fully trained, and wholly competent in the rigging duties associated with offshore and onshore crane operations.
- Should have LEEA-UK Qualifications 'Entry Exam' and 2-day Rigging Foreman course.
- Should have a minimum of 10 years offshore and onshore experience and a minimum of 3 years in a similar position.
- Level 3 rigging competency.
- Should have adequate training and hands-on professional experience and be competent to act as an Appointed Person for lifting equipment.
- Should be able to write lifting plans, supervise and execute critical lifting offshore.
- Should be familiar with international standards related to lifting engineering practices with sufficient knowledge of interpretation.
