Key job responsibilities
  • Are controls subject matter experts (SMEs) with knowledge of building operations, electrical generation and distribution equipment (generators, UPS, etc.), mechanical plant and strategies (AHUs, chillers, etc.), BMS/EPMS programming concepts, control diagrams, industrial HVAC, electrical line-ups, one-line diagrams, and complex environmental and electrical concepts
  • Create, maintain, and disseminate project specific scope of work (SOW) documents, specifications and engineering drawings as well as global design standards
  • Operate in high security critical environments while maximizing productivity
  • Innovate to develop new solutions to support team and company goals and initiatives
  • Interpret and develop a combination of mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings
  • Serve as a central point of contact as technical SMEs for multiple internal and external groups regarding mechanical and electrical controls standards
  • Manage and prioritize requests for information on new construction builds, existing site facilities support and legacy site enhancement projects
  • Ensure systems are deployed and commissioned to documented standards
  • Strive for frugality through budgetary review and customer-focused interpretation of needs
  • Be technical subject matter experts in mechanical and/or electrical controls
  • Anticipate roadblocks and risks with escalation management
  • Work quickly and autonomously to deep dive and resolve unexpected challenges
  • Effectively manage external consultants’ performance to ensure high-quality delivery
  • Review vendor bid packages and make selection recommendations
  • Work across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Interact with AWS cloud services and other applications to present, archive and analyse data
  • Solve problems to drive results while handling multiple tasks
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to manage projects (circa 25% of the time)

As part of the EMEA controls design team, you will work with highly motivated experts and innovators in the data center industry. You will lead the electrical and mechanical controls design of critical infrastructure projects including HV Substations, Leased and Colocation Data Centres. You will develop new processes and standards and test innovations in the controls space using Amazon leadership principles.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications

• Good understanding of electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, industrial HVAC.
• Demonstrated leadership in IT technology and MEP/ACS design engineering environments to deliver results.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the use and programming of electrical power monitoring systems (Schneider, Eaton preferred).

• Proficiency in computer applications such as SQL, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

As part of the global controls team, you will work with highly motivated experts and innovators in the data center industry. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS).

AWS Data centers have multiple components such as generators, uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled), pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, air economizers, etc. All these components have local control systems that interact with each other via open and/or proprietary communications protocols.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis or Corrective Action for BMS and EPMS related issues in AWS data centers.
  • Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to operations during life cycle of the data center.
  • Review results and action items from the quarterly maintenances for BMS and EPMS and take actions to get them resolved.
  • Develop BMS & EPMS projects scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of efforts (LOE) to projects requested by customers and stakeholders.
  • Manage scope, schedule, finance and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects in AWS data centers.
  • Assist in procurement related activities including request for quotation/proposals, responding to request for information, review of vendors proposal and issuance of purchase orders.
  • Participate in AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate BMS and EPMS technical support to in-service data centers.
  • Attend project related meetings, coordinate with project leaders and regularly report status to Controls and stakeholders management.
  • Support Controls projects related commissioning activities in the data centers.
  • Review, implement, troubleshoot and iterate on the controls sequence of operation (SOO) and provide necessary feedback to the design team.
  • Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
  • Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables, requirements and navigate challenging situations.
  • Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
  • Frequently visit (locally) assigned in-operation data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, supervise vendor’s work to ensure compliance with the scope, design, SOO and applicable local codes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or other related engineering degrees as well as 3+ years Controls related experience; or Associates degree and 5 years of Controls related experience; or High School diploma with 8 years of Controls related experience
  • Experience with industrial controls in critical environment (data center, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, water etc.).
  • A minimum of two (2) years in Controls or Electrical construction project coordination with multiple teams or vendors to meet project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or other related engineering degree.
  • Experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting or servicing HVAC Controls and Electrical SCADA systems application specific controllers, software and networks.
  • TCP/IP, MQTT, BACnet and/or MODBUS communication protocol experience.
  • Experience with management of change.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

  • Track and update pipeline activity regularly to support accurate forecasting and strategic planning.
  • Participate in framework agreements and ensure timely, high-quality bid submissions.
Technical & Commercial Alignment
  • Collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure alignment between customer expectations and Carrier’s HVAC solutions.
  • Understand and analyze HVAC system requirements to prepare compelling technical and budgetary proposals.
  • Provide input to senior management to support the development of business plans for the data center segment.
Minimum Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related HVAC field.
Experience
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in HVAC system sales, preferably with a focus on applied equipment.
  • Experience in data center cooling solutions is highly preferred.
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and business productivity tools.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and build long-term client relationships.

About you
Position Title: Senior Engineer/Manager - Data Center Responsibilities:
  • Identify systems, products & Manufacturers for the business.
  • Employ a consultative selling approach to effectively understand and address customer needs and challenges.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer requirements, and potential opportunities within the UAE data center sector.
  • Develop and implement strategies for acquiring new business and expanding existing accounts.

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment through effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management.

  • Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly to ensure a high level of service.
  • New product/system sales in data centers.
  • Grow the revenue & profits year on year in a prudent way.
  • Recruit and nurture a team for sales into Data Center.
  • Get vendor listing done with engineering/Design Consultants.
  • Work with various systems of the organization (CRM, ERP, and PMS Etc.)

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:

  • A Thorough Understanding of Data Centers:

    The incumbent in this domain should understand data centers—their purpose, components, and infrastructure. This includes but is not limited to, knowledge of civil, electrical, mechanical, and communication products and solutions.

  • The applicant shall have exposure to selling one or more solutions to DC projects, such as Cooling and Power management systems, Energy efficiency solutions, Automation technologies, Security solutions, Backup/emergency recovery solutions, Racking, Cabinets, Cable Management, Leak Detection, and Acoustics, Access Flooring solutions.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering and a Master's in Sales Management shall be an added advantage.

Required Experience:

  • Extensive relevant experience in similar roles within a related environment with the past five years in Data Center project sales.
  • Solid previous experience operationally managing a sales team.
  • Good experience dealing with clients and engaging in influencing sales.
  • Previous demonstrable experience in the sales management role.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop long-term customer relationships with consulting engineers, design & build contractors, hyperscalers and colocation operators to create a pipeline for the EMEA region

  • Maximize account penetration by leveraging Johnson Controls’ broad portfolio of building solutions

We seek hunters, driven to develop strong client relationships and self-motivated to drive growth:

  • You will articulate JCI offerings, strategize sales approaches, and ensure customer retention and growth of assigned accounts

  • Responsibilities include building partnering relationships, maintaining frequent contact with customers, optimizing and leading technical specifications throughout the JCI portfolio, leading collaborative efforts with regional offices, conducting technical presentations, and providing feedback to management

  • Required skills include experience in electronic security solutions (access control, CCTV, intruder)
