To procure materials and services through strategic approach and choose the right vendor for the requirements by ensuring quality control and adhering to the company’s policies and procedures. Responsible and Accountable for managing purchasing team and process, sourcing, negotiation, supplier identification, new project mobilization, delivery, and supplier management.
Responsibilities Strategic Development- Spend Analysis – perform spend analysis and plan LTPA/Tender categories based on priority and needs.
- Identify and pre‑qualify new potential suppliers, prepare tender documents with necessary scope, technical and commercial evaluation, arrange samples for approval, arrange e‑auction, and prepare supplier contract agreements.
- Oversee and supervise the team ensuring timely purchase and adherence to company policies.
- Verify and approve PO, ARF and transport indents in the portal.
- Assess and source quotations from potential suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts, secure improved prices, payment and delivery terms, and review opportunities for business savings.
- Understand project needs, formulate material and service delivery plan per requirements and deadlines.
- Regularly update operation heads on mobilization progress and resolve issues.
- Monitor and track spends within allocated budget.
- Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance with store and site personnel, evaluate contract performance, and address non‑compliance.
- Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality of goods/services, competency and consistency.
- Prepare reports on PO spend, open POs, pending indents and savings, and present to management.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to review contracts and processes for accuracy, efficacy and completeness.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate with stakeholders regularly, attend meetings, and address issues.
- Maintain professional and consistent approach in supplier relationships.
- Strengthen relationships by earning trust, listening to concerns, and involving them in processes to resolve escalated issues.
- Engage employees in decision‑making and ownership.
- Continuously perform market research by attending industry expos, online research, seminars, etc., to identify potential suppliers and products and improve performance.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity to reduce costs where possible.

About the role
We are looking for a Category Manager to drive our Private Label strategy and support the execution within the Grocery vertical. This role is based in Dubai and will play a key part in shaping the growth of our Private Label product portfolio, optimizing pricing, sourcing, and vendor relationships to ensure strong performance across the region.
What you'll do
- Own the private label P&L for categories and assortment strategy for Private Label categories in the UAE.
- Develop strategic sourcing strategies, lead supplier negotiations and onboarding, ensuring alignment with Careem's commercial requirements and expectations.
- Work closely with supply chain and demand planning teams to maintain high availability and optimized inventory levels.
