Job Purpose
Supervise drilling-related operations at project locations to test and obtain samples in line with the company's requirements. Collaborate closely with the Operations Superintendent and adhere to the responsibilities provided by him. Work with the drilling team and specialists from other Fugro entities or third-party subcontractors to ensure safe and effective sampling and testing programs. Coordinate with the Site Manager and vessel Master to ensure all operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Supervise the activities of the drilling crew at the work location.
- Ensure all operations comply with the company's quality procedures and HSE policies.
- Maintain economic drilling production rates and high sample quality by selecting appropriate tooling and drilling techniques.
- Liaise with site engineering staff to ensure drilling, sampling, and testing activities meet specifications.
- Advise site engineering staff on the limitations of drilling, sampling, and testing equipment to minimize damage and loss.
- Inform site engineering staff of any problematic soil conditions that may require a review of the sampling and testing regime.
- Check that all drilling equipment at the worksite is in good working order and report any faults to the Operations Superintendent promptly.
- Ensure sufficient plant spares are available at the worksite.
- Verify that correctly specified drilling, sampling, and testing tools are available at the worksite.
- Ensure drilling operations consumables are available in sufficient quantities at the worksite.
- Report any deficits in materials to the Operations Superintendent promptly.
- Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the Company Management System on Quality and HSE-related issues.
- During equipment mobilization and demobilization
- Organize the workforce for effective 24-hour operations.
- Request specialist services, third-party plant hire, and labor from the Operations Coordinator or Plant Manager as appropriate.
- Plan the lifting schedule and ensure all lifting operations are carried out safely and controlled.
- Supervise all cutting and welding activities and ensure correct mitigation measures are in place.
- Produce monthly and end-of-project reports on
- Drilling fluid and chemical usage.
- Spares usage.
- Consumables usage.
- Equipment status, maintenance, and fault reporting.
- On project completion, produce a debriefing report including
- Brief summary of project performance.
- Lessons learned.
- Individual drill crew evaluations according to IMS form 930.11 Field Staff Appraisal.
- Evaluation of subcontractor/subcontracted Opco technical performance.
- Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Job Description
· Act as the representative on the MODU in supervising the well operations of the rig campaign , including but not limited to drilling, well workover or well interventions.
· Understand the broad requirements of the well operations and ensures that such program is planned and executed to meet its objectives, in compliance with the corporate, industry recognized and regulator's standards and in professional and cost-effective manner with safety and environment protection as the priority.
· Acts as a member of on-site response team in the emergency and oil spill response organization.
Implements "HSE Management System" on the MODU during the well operations.
Desired Candidate Profile
Knowledge:
BSc, both engineering and supervision aspects in the well operations on the MODU to the industry recognised standards, Offshore HSE management system to cost-efficiently in safe and environmentally friendly manner, Business practices in offshore drilling industry.
Experience:
- Minimum 15years in Drilling Operations on the MODU, including experiences with coiled tubing.
- High H2S Experience.
Skills:
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office Package user
- OPITO approved BOSIET

Supervising the well operations on the MODU:
- Oversee the drilling and well testing operations on the MODU.
- Document any major change of the well program in accordance with "Management of Change" procedures.
- Endorse "Daily Well Operation Report" and monitor and evaluate well conditions.
- Chair day-to-day communication with the MODU and service contractors on the MODU.
- Review next 24 hours program (substantially in accordance with the well program of drilling, well workover or well intervention).
- Update "well campaign Look-ahead".
- Review "Shipping Manifest" and "Helicopter Passenger Manifest".
- Assist the Offshore Logistics Coordinator in preparation of "Material Inventory".
- Ensure implementation of "HSE Management System" on the MODU.
- Be a member of the on-site response team in the event of an emergency and/or oil spill situation.
- Assist Offshore HSE officer for investigations into the causes of HSE related incidents and prepares reports with recommendations for remedial action.
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Promote team work and competency between contractor personnel.
Post-Operations Reporting:
- Assist to prepare "Contractor's Performance Appraisal".

Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 1)
- Provide expert level drilling and completions support including but not limited to :
- Lost circulation solutions
- Relative permeability Modifiers
- Fluid associated equipment (solids control, shaker screens, degassers, testing equipment. etc)
- Drilling waste management solution
- Inventory management on site (Drilling fluid chemicals & Bulk, Waste management, Cement chemicals & Bulk, etc)
Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 2)
- Monitor and control quality assurance of all drilling, completion, and cement chemicals maintain proper QA-QC records.
- Supervise the service provider LMP, WMS, Cement & Bulks area.
- Carry out spot checks of chemicals in stores, supplier stores, service company stores & rigs and brines at the brine plant. Verify proper storage, handling & house-keeping procedures, HSE procedures and documents control are followed.
- Monitor chemical consumption patterns and investigates any abnormalities. Establish quarterly chemical requirements based on planned types of wells.
- Maintain checks on performance of Service Company formulations through wellsite lab pilot tests.
- Investigate chemical quality discrepancies and implement corrective actions. Follow-up with suppliers to ensure compliance.
- Involve in trouble-shooting drilling problems, suggest solutions and recommendations. Perform wellsite tests at the lab as required for trouble-shooting drilling problems.
- Verify that proper sampling procedures are followed.
- Monitor all HSE procedures are followed with respect to chemicals. Ensure usage of only environment friendly chemicals. Strive continually to reduce chemical waste and improve company’s waste management procedures.
Job Specific Accountabilities (Part 3)
- Perform periodical audits of supplier stores. This includes regular HSE & quality audits. Issue audit reports.
- Provide fluids input in the Well Value Assurance process of planning the well, wherever required to improve fluid performance.
- Review fluid reports, well recaps, end of well reports and phase reports. Monitor solids control equipment efficiency, analyse performance and make recommendations for their improvements.
- Provide QA-QC support to Cement group as required. This includes liaising with lab, suppliers & service companies to improve quality, investigate failures, trouble-shoot problems, etc.
- Keep abreast with latest developments in fluids / chemicals, assesses technically service company’s and chemical suppliers’ new offers, implement trials and assesses trial results, introduce innovative products & procedures to improve drilling performance.
- Work in line with HSE policy, awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations.
- Ensures the best practices and lessons learned are incorporated in fluid program
- Participates in operational meeting, well planning, task forces, workshops as needed

- Regular and frequent contact with suppliers, contractors and service providers for job planning and performance, reporting & evaluation KPI’s.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical Engineer or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience and knowledge of drilling fluid and completions / work over fluids system and technologies including ERD.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in field operation (fluid & / or Cement) related drilling, completions and work over activities
