We are looking for a new principal to join our team and foster a healthy learning environment for our students. Your primary responsibilities will be to supervise our education staff and oversee day-to-day school operations.

To succeed in this role, you should be able to make quick decisions under pressure and have a comprehensive understanding of the national education system and its regulations. Excellent communication and organizational abilities are also important skills you should demonstrate as a principal.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day school operations
  • Manage school logistics and budgets
  • Set learning goals for students and teachers based on national curricula
  • Monitor and report on teacher performance
  • Present data from school performance to board members
  • Research new resources and techniques to improve teaching
  • Interview and hire school personnel
  • Review and implement school policies
  • Provide guidance and counseling to teachers
  • Handle emergencies and school crises
  • Organize school events and assemblies
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for students (e.g. implementing hygiene rules)
  • Attend conferences to gain knowledge on current educational trends

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience Required for ADEK Approval :

School-based role with the highest level of responsibility for leadership and management.

All staff report to the Principal.

Minimum Eligibility :

Candidates must match one of the following eligibility profiles :

Profile 1 :

Main Qualification : QFE 9 (Master’s Degree) in Educational Leadership

Experience :

8 years in education, including :

5 years of teaching AND

2 years as Vice Principal OR

3 years as a Senior Leader

Profile 2 :

Main Qualification : QFE 9 (Master’s Degree) in any subject

Additional Qualification : Coursework in educational and / or organizational leadership

Experience :

8 years in education, including :

5 years of teaching AND

2 years as Vice Principal OR

3 years as a Senior Leader

Profile 3 :

Main Qualification : QFE 7 (Bachelor’s Degree) in any subject

Additional Qualification : Coursework in educational and / or organizational leadership

Experience :

10 years in education, including :

Additional Requirements :

Educational Leadership Standards Assessment and / or other relevant valid licenses.

Minimum 8 years of leadership experience, preferably as Principal or Vice Principal.

Experience in implementing innovative teaching aligned with UK curriculum.

Familiarity with UK curriculum development and assessment processes.

UAE Experience and Cultural Competence :

Substantial experience in UAE education sector.

In-depth knowledge of UAE culture, norms, and educational landscape.

Understanding of ADEK inspection processes and compliance.

Ability to engage effectively with UAE parents and stakeholders.

Nationality :

UK or Ireland nationality required.

Reports to: The principal

Role: The principal’s role is both academic and administrative; the principal ensures the general implementation of School’s academic, pastoral and administrative processes. The principal oversees and evaluates staff performance and professional development.

 Curriculum Development:

Supervising curriculum outlines in collaboration with the curriculum coordinator 

Curriculum supervision needs to ensure that:

Curriculum is mapped to include (integration, cross-curricular links)

Effective upward spiraling of the curriculum  (Scope and Sequence)

Modified to include provisions for SEND students/Emirati Students

Selecting curriculum related resources as aligned with the state standards

Liaising with KHDA for legislative requirements.

Supervising Staff professional development and performance:

Consults with the PD coordinator in drafting the annual professional development plan.

Reviews the PD plan to ensure effective provisions of training opportunities as required by the teachers.

Supervises class observation schedules

Monitors the implementation of the PD plan

Supervises staff performance management in collaboration with the PD coordinator.

Evaluating teacher’s performance and target setting

Consults with head of school, team leaders in staff continuation of services.

Updates principal of staff performance.

Pastoral care:

Regulating class lists in consultation with the registrar, heads of school to ensure that classes are grouped dynamically with abilities and gender balanced.

Ensures that health and safety is maintained as per the health and safety policies.

Meets regularly with supervisors and heads of school in reviewing supervision duties to maximize safety.

Ensures that foods and beverages served by school cafeteria are of high standards as per the health and safety expectations from DHA.

Drafting behavior, health and safety policies.

Supervises meetings with parents, teachers and heads of school in regards to behavior or academic challenges.

Collaborating with services manager in school in planning and ensuring cleaning of the premises are of high standards.

Extra- curricular activities:

Supervising assembly plans- ensuring that they are linked to relevant topics, culture appropriate and in alignment to school vision , mission and core values

Planning extra- curricular activities that are aligned to the core-values

Supervising planning of trips- ensuring that trips are an extended learning opportunity linked to the topics or concepts taught in class.

Plans concerts with heads of school, team leaders

Member of the PTA (parent- teacher association)

PTA meetings

Ensures that confidentiality is maintained and reports meeting minutes to the Principal.

Collaborates with the PRE (Parents- relation Executive) in effective communication between parents and teachers.

Follow up parental concerns in regards to behavior and academics.

Recruitment:

Shortlisting potential candidates

Supervises the panel of interviewers in the recruiting process

Monitoring the orientation and induction process for newly recruited staff in collaboration with team leaders and head of schools.

Finances:

Assisting the financial executive in drafting the annual budget plan

Regulating requisitions made for purchases of classroom resources.

Approving requisitions made for extra-curricular activities. (concerts, ASA, assemblies)

Assisting in Record Keeping:  assists in completion of records and reports and in the supervision and inventory of necessary supplies, textbooks, equipment and materials.
