Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for Engineering Operations Technician Interns to join our expanding Data Center.
As an intern, you will provide technical support support to Amazon within its owned and operated data centers. This position involves ensuring that the data centers mechanical, electrical and plumbing operates at 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers. All interns will be exposed to independent work and in a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Engineering Operations team is Amazon's front-line responders for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations. You will work with equipment that supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switchgear, UPS's, PDU's, AHU's, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD's, and building automation systems.
Duties include:
· Maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
· Assist root cause analysis of equipment failures
· Assist in troubleshooting of facility and rack-level events within internal SLA
· Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment
· Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows
· Interact with third party vendors & contractors who are working on site
Physical Requirements
· Work at heights and from ladders.
· Regularly lift and/or move up to 49 pounds unassisted and participate in group lifts for 50 pounds or more.
· Use hands to manipulate small wires and objects.
Amazon internships are full-time (40 hours/week) for 12 consecutive weeks, in Summer 2024. This position requires the intern to report to work onsite on a daily basis. **Position Overview:**
The Electrical Engineer will work under the supervision of the Resident Engineer and Project Manager as part of the construction supervision team on major infrastructure and Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects. **What will I be doing?**
As a General Electrician, you are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing electrical equipment to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience. A General Electrician will also be required to ensure work is done to code and provide assistance during emergencies. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
+ Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical equipment
+ Diagnose malfunctioning systems to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
+ Inspect electrical equipment to ensure coding compliance
+ Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
+ Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools
+ Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, placing flares, and driving needed vehicles
+ Ensure quality inspections are carried out in line with company standards
+ Ensure good relationships are built with internal and external customers
+ Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned

**Job Description**
**Job Summary- Electrical Engineer**
Reports to the Project Lead/ Senior Discipline Engineer/ Manager on site. Oversees, reviews & manages and monitors implementation of the construction documents on site. Responsible to manage teams of discipline Inspectors on site. Supports the Project Lead/ Senior Discipline Engineer/ Manager technically and liaises with the design office, contractor and client counterparts to ensure that the construction is carried out in accordance with plans and specifications.
**Job Duties**
+ The incumbent performs a broad cross-section of complex technical and administrative activities requiring extensive experience and specialization in Contract Compliance, Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) inspection of electrical scope related to the project
+ Analyses applicable codes, standards and project contract documents and monitors construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents.
+ Interprets or clarifies contract documents for Contractors.
+ Maintains and prepares a variety of records, including daily/weekly progress reports, material accounting records, change orders and record drawings.
+ Provide assistance to the Project Engineer/Site Engineer.
+ Responsible for supervising, directing and coordinating the inspection team.
+ Conduct weekly meetings with inspectors and Project Engineer.
+ Ensuring that responses are complete and in compliance with the contract documents. Where problems are found, work with Project Engineer to resolve.
+ Audit inspections for conformity to contract documents and contractor submitted plans.
+ Assist the Senior Discipline engineer to identify, respond to or evaluate technical issues to maintain the schedule.
+ Highlights any violations to construction/ engineering related issues on site through issuance of NCRs
+ Attends progress review meetings and coordination meetings to assist the Project Lead/Senior Engineer in resolving any site issues such as discrepancies in project's drawings.
+ Participates in the coordination and monitoring of snagging and project handover
+ Provide support to Resident Engineer/Team lead to ensure projects run smoothly by providing expert knowledge and advice.
+ Liaises with the Design Engineer on modifications if required.
+ Gives daily site reports and highlights issues that arise on site to the Project Lead.
+ Contributes in the preparation of all kinds of reports and as directed by the project lead.
+ Monitor Health and Safety of the construction works and report on the same. If required stop the construction works if unsafe practices are being followed.
Minimum 12 years demonstrable experience in the design and all aspects of supervision and project administration of the electrical works related to large-scale projects within Middle East in the consulting industry
experience of underground CAR parks

Education Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or equivalent Plus an advanced post-Graduate Degree and membership of a recognized institution ( i.e. PE/Peng, CEng Etc.) would be preferred. LEED GA or AP certifications would be a plus for MEP discipline
