What you'll be doing
The Investment Director will play a pivotal role in sharpening the investment strategy and driving value creation for the portfolio of investments at Chalhoub Group. This senior position requires a blend of strategic thinking, strong operating insights, demonstrated experience in complex deal negotiation, cross functional stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
Portfolio Management: deliver superior Value Creation
- Oversee and manage the company’s existing portfolio, ensuring its growth and optimal performance.
- Evaluate and undertake exit options where beneficial and appropriate.
- Engage with internal and external experts — from insights, to territory opportunities and new markets, and external experts - example consulting companies or sector specialists to educate the portfolio's strategy and individual companies' strategic direction.
- Continuously monitor investments, conduct performance reviews, and implement necessary adjustments to improve returns.
- Collaborate with other departments, including legal, finance, and operations, to optimize portfolio performance.
- Upgrade and systematise preparation for business reviews, Board meetings and ensure all relevant stakeholders are kept aware of important developments.
Investment Strategy updates and Deal Execution:
- Continuously sense check and sharpen the long-term investment strategy according to market dynamics, capital allocation priorities, category opportunities aligned with the company’s overall objectives.
- Work closely with internal and external specialists to identify, track and evaluate new investment opportunities and devise strategy for proactive target relationship building
Synergies, deal negotiation, integration:
- Work closely with the deal team to advise on deal negotiation and devise the investment mechanism/structure/terms for successful outcome
- Take ownership of the synergies assessment vs target capabilities and future needs, through thorough work on internal Group capabilities during DD and post deal.
- Lead the post-deal integration programme for maximum value creation and in keeping with core Group values.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure all investments comply with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them while maximizing returns.
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations and ensure adherence to all compliance requirements.
- Ensure and formalise due governance practices
Reporting and Performance Tracking:
- Provide regular reports to the senior management team on investment performance and market conditions.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to investors and other stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of investment professionals, providing guidance on complex projects and ensuring the team is aligned with the company’s goals.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages knowledge - sharing and professional growth.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
- An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is required.
Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in investment management, with at least 3-5 years in a management role.
- Brand strategy or operating experience or relevant experience in Consumer and Luxury sectors (Fragrance, Leathergoods, etc)
- Proven track record of successful buyside investments and portfolio management, within a corporate or Private Equity function
- Experience in evaluating Brand Equity, GTM strategies, financial modelling, risk analysis, and due diligence processes.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, economic indicators, and regulatory frameworks.
Skills:
- Outstanding negotiation skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to model and interpret complex financial data
- Positive communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present to internal stakeholders and external partners.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Investment Banker to join our dynamic team in Dubai. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and other financial strategies to maximize their business value. This role demands strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and excellent client relationship management abilities.
Key Responsibilities:Conduct thorough financial analysis, valuation, and due diligence of companies across various sectors.
Advise clients on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions.
Assist in raising capital through equity, debt, or hybrid instruments.
Prepare detailed investment memorandums, pitch books, and financial models.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, investors, and other stakeholders.
Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
Collaborate with legal, compliance, and regulatory teams to ensure adherence to local and international regulations.
Manage deal execution from inception to closing, including negotiation and documentation.
Support senior bankers in business development and client pitching activities.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or CFA certification preferred.
