We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Lead with a strong background in water and wastewater infrastructure projects to join our growing team. This role is critical to leading mechanical design, coordination, and delivery across multidisciplinary projects in the water sector, ensuring technical excellence and project success.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the Independent Engineer and trusted advisor for high-value water infrastructure Lead and manage mechanical engineering design for water-related projects including pumping stations, water treatment plants, desalination facilities, and pipeline systems.
- Develop mechanical designs, specifications, and reports in accordance with project requirements and international standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, and process engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
- Oversee and review work from internal teams and sub-consultants to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior mechanical engineers.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Certification is required - Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in mechanical design and supervision, with a strong focus on major water/wastewater infrastructure.
- Proven experience in leading mechanical works on major water utility projects in the region (UAE/GCC experience preferred).
- Familiarity with relevant design codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, AWWA, API, BS/EN standards).
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic modeling tools.

1 Mission
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for all the design technicalconcerns during the project conception stages and the construction in the trade related to his/her qualification. The role ensures the quality at every stage of the project (design, construction, testing and commissioning).
The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads the design technical studies, in coordination with other trades working on the projects he/she is involved. He/she coordinates with the clients and Stakeholders, the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and other Consulting Engineers at any phase of the project as well as the Contractors during the construction stage.
On site, the Senior Mechanical Engineer leads the submissions review, supervises the procurement, installation, testing and commissioning within is discipline perimeter.
2 Line and Staff Relations
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report to the Head of Practice and/or Director, Production and Operations for line management support and projects instructions.
In supervision stage, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will take directions from the appointed Resident Engineer, and will give direction to assigned other Engineers/inspectors/surveyors when assigned to projects.
As part of his/her mission, the Senior Mechanical Engineer may be in functional contact with:
· The Project Director and/or Project Manager and the Design Manager
· The Client or the delegated contracting authority,
· The Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
· The various Practices and Departments,
· Other Consultants and/or Sub-Consultants
· The Tendering Department,
· The Business Development Department,
· Approving Authorities and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)

3 Key Responsibilities
- Respect ARTELIA AIRPORTS policy and guide-lines for Ethics and Compliance.
- As specialist advisor, attends diagnostics, expertise recommendations and solutions on airport installations and other existing buildings types.
- Provides input to the Tendering Department during the pre-bid and bidding processes to help secure new projects proposals vs technical scope of work, planning and needed resources deployment
- New technologies/innovations sharing
- Lessons learnt from previous projects sharing
CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION
· Coordinates with other technical Consultant’s Engineers,
· Coordinates technical issues with the Contractors,
· Coordinates the design and site works with all other trades working on the project
· Works on the required site modifications, prepares and submits Variation Orders to the Client’s approval, issues Engineer’s Instructions and answers the contractors’ technical requests.
· Ensure that contractors have obtained NOC and necessary work permits from AHJs and other related airport authorities and stakeholders
· Is in charge of all types of submissions review:
o Reviews all documents related to construction work, such as but not limited to: shop drawings, method of statements, materials submissions, mock-ups, calculation notes, factories visits, maintenance manuals, as-built documentation etc… vs contractual requirements, design and specifications
o Prepares technical comments on non-conformity reports, instruction request and material approvals that will be transmitted to the Construction Manager via the Resident Engineer for validation,
o Alerts in case of claims and advises the Contract Advisor for answering claims,
o Checks the production and construction quality on site,
o Checks manufacturing of devices (including validation of prototype).
· Prepares materials and components proposals with necessary technical data and recommendations, and submits for approval to Client and related Stakeholders.
· Provides support for the preparation and submission of the progress reports (weekly, monthly, …)
· Supervises all construction work stages:
o Installation, commissioning, testing, punch listing and training, etc…
o Controls the on-site progress of works through regular site inspections and when deemed necessary
o Supervise the quality of work at every stage of the construction
o Attend testing and commissioning
o Attends site meetings with the client, contractors, subcontractors and/or suppliers,
o Attends internal site meetings
o Supervises inspectors daily tasks/works
· Ensure the handover of the project is done in compliance with the requirements of the project contract performance requirement.
CONCEPTION (where applicable)
· Using AutoCAD, BIM – Revit and other software tools in the delivery of a project from concept stage to design project completion.
· Understands client requirements and identifies inputs and outputs,
· Organizes and plan the studies and drawings production in respect of the delays and project budget at any stage of the studies, guides and controls draftsmen production and design production from sub-consultants vs their contract obligations
· Prepares sketches and feasibility studies to define the guidelines of the project, including ROM cost estimate, CAPEX and OPEX, to enable the client to make the necessary choices
· Studies all the spatial, temporal and technical constraints dictated to the project, in coordination with other disciplines
· Prepares and verifies all documents prior submission, in terms of technical content and QA/QC, as per contract requirement, all design stages
· Prepare RFP for sub-consultancy services and manage sub-consultant deliverables as per contract obligations (scheduledeliverables content, etc…)
· Participates in pre-qualification and qualification process, analyses pre-qualification and tenders, and provides technical analysis report recommendation
· Is in charge of:
o Contracts review in terms of supplying the right services, all design stages, on time and within project budget,
o Cohesion between the graphic documents and the specifications,
o Compliance with the International and Regional Codes and Standards (security, safety, airport regulations, construction…)
o Ensuring that proper controls, i.e. QA/QC and content compliance vs contract obligations, are properly conducted prior submission
o May be called for specialist advice, diagnostics, expertise recommendations and solutions on airport installations and other existing buildings types
o Maintain and develop CAD and BIM libraries
· Any other task requested by his/her line manager within his/her field of expertise
4 Profile Specifications – Minimum Requirements
· 10-15 years of total experience with a minimum of 3 years under BIM environment projects and at least 5 at Senior level.
· Bachelor Degree of Mechanical Engineering.
· UAE society of engineers membership
· Abu Dhabi Engineering License
· NFPA Certification would be valued
· LEED or other Sustainability Standard Certification would be valued
· Strong proficiency in BIM (Revit) and supporting Revit tools skill – Dynamo BIM or equivalent, andother software is mandatory ( AutoCAD, MathCAD, etc…)
· Well versed in MS office Application (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint)
· Experience leading teams and guiding the design process from the collection of data and client’s input discussions till the Construction Phase
· Effective communication skills in English both written and spoken
· Good communication and Customer facing skills
· Ability to plan, organize and has flexibility towards work.

Role Purpose:The Facility Engineer in a facility management business is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within a facility. This role ensures that all MEP systems operate efficiently, comply with safety and regulatory standards, and support the overall operational objectives of the facility. The MEP Engineer plays a key role in maintaining the functionality and reliability of the facility's infrastructure, enhancing occupant comfort, and reducing operational costs through effective maintenance practices and innovative solutions.
Key Task and Responsibilities:Maintenance Management: Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans for all MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection, and building management systems (BMS). Conduct regular inspections and audits of MEP systems to identify potential issues, ensure compliance with safety standards, and maintain optimal performance. Coordinate and supervise routine and emergency maintenance activities, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of any MEP-related problems.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support to maintenance teams and technicians, offering guidance on complex MEP issues and troubleshooting equipment failures. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and plumbing problems, minimizing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted facility operations. Implement corrective actions to address recurring issues and prevent future breakdowns.
Energy Management and Optimization: Monitor and analyse energy consumption patterns to identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and cost savings. Implement energy-saving initiatives, such as upgrading equipment, optimizing system settings, and promoting sustainable practices. Conduct regular assessments of MEP systems to ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards and regulations.
Project Management: Plan and oversee MEP projects, including system upgrades, retrofits, and new installations, ensuring alignment with facility requirements and budget constraints. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to manage project timelines, deliverables, and quality standards. Prepare project documentation, including scopes of work, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all MEP systems comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigation measures. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance documentation for regulatory reporting and audits.
Vendor and Contractor Management: Monitor contractor performance, ensuring adherence to contract terms, safety standards, and quality expectations. Manage procurement of spare parts, equipment, and materials needed for MEP maintenance and repair activities.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in MEP maintenance and facility management. Implement innovative solutions and technologies to enhance system performance, reduce costs, and improve overall facility operations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team, encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development.
Client and Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with facility managers, clients, and stakeholders to provide updates on MEP system status, maintenance activities, and project progress. Respond promptly to client inquiries and concerns, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. Prepare and present reports on MEP system performance, maintenance activities, and energy efficiency initiatives.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an MEP Engineer in a facility management or similar industry.
- Professional engineering license or certification (preferred).
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Experience in managing subcontractors and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

This role is for a project where the authority in Dubai is requiring the rehabilitation of an existing Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to enable it to perform at its highest possible efficiency and to extend the plant to be able to receive and treat efficiently up to
around 435,000 m3 /day. The selected candidate shall have extensive experience working in local sewage treatment plant facilities along with a proven ability to manage and supervise the construction works and optimization of the operation process within the existing STP in accordance with the specification.

Qualifications:
The Mechanical Engineer must have relevant degree from recognized university and must have thorough knowledge and work experience not less than 15 years in the equipment and control system within the sewage treatment plant. The candidate must also have full and complete knowledge of existing work system within Dubai Municipality sewage treatment plants.
